Katherine Hansen

Artist & Musician

All my life I’ve loved to draw and paint.

My other love is music which I was fortunate to learn on violin with lessons financed by the Education Department in Primary School.

We were blessed with an excellent teacher “Brian Blake”, whom I continued with throughout Secondary School.

I gained a place for year twelve at Victorian College of the Arts on violin.

Most subjects were music related with compulsory English, Social Studies and Art classes.

How I loved Art class with a pottery wheel, sculpting, wool spinning, painting and trips across St Kilda Road, to the Botanical Gardens to sketch.

In my latest years I’ve had time to take realist water color classes in the Dandenong Ranges with Antoinette Blyth.

I love the way tint on water melds and has a little say of it’s own for the end result.

I also enjoy painting abstract or fantasy pictures on canvas with acrylic.
